Day 7: Spice Up Your Comments--25 Days To A Better Beauty and Fashion Blog Challenge #SBBC / by Erin Baynham

This post is part of the Scandalous Beauty 25 Days To A Better Beauty And Fashion Blog Challenge! For even more tips, be sure to check out Erin's Guide to Better Beauty Blogging. When users leave you comments, the generic comment system for your blog platform is their only option. This is great for gravatar, which we talked about yesterday, because it uses your email and gets your picture ready. But readers shouldn't always have to sign up for your blog to get to comment. They should get other login options. There are quite a few commenting systems out there, including Disqus, CommentluvIntense DebateLivefyre, etc.

Disqus: This has been my favorite so far. It allows you to sign in using OpenID, Twitter, Facebook and many other platforms. There are several settings that you can set up to customize, and it breaks down lots of info in the backend. Here's a screenshot from a post I did called "MAC Cosmetics: Worth The Hype?"  As you see, you can subscribe to the posts by email or RSS, sort the posts and rate them.

Commentluv: I love the concept of this! When people comment on your blog, they click the 'commentluv' button and their latest post will appear under their comment. Unfortunately, this doesn't  integrate with some of the other platforms.

Assignment: Decide if your comments section needs a boost. Is it easy for people to comment on your blog? Does it take lots of time for them to login and find your section?

Do you use a commenting system? If so, do you have pros or cons for it? We would love to know!  Tomorrow, we'll discuss 5 ways to make your photos look better on your blog!
